THE Fiji Cancer Society (FCS) together with staff members of Flour Mills of Fiji Ltd (FMF) are hosting a Movember march this month to raise awareness and funds towards the cause.
The march will take place on November 29 at 9am from two different venues — the Suva Flea Market and FMF in Walu Bay and participants are expected to walk towards the Sukuna Park.
Interested members of the public are being encouraged to join the march free of charge to add to the already-growing numbers.
FMF media liaison officer Jim Naulumatua said so far, around 50 staff members of FMF were confirmed marchers for the day, many of whom have been growing their beards and moustaches in preparation for the moustache shaving at the end of the walk.
"Firstly, we were approached by the Fiji Cancer Society, just letting us know about the initiative and what we realised was that FMF was made up of about 80 per cent of men here, so we thought we might as well take part in such an initiative," Mr Naulumatua explained yesterday.
"We already have about 50 people who have volunteered to be part of that march, the only difference is that we won't be starting the march from the Flea Market, but will start from the FMF office in Walu Bay earlier and catch the rest of them at the Flea Market."
