The Filling
Ingredients
- 4 large apples
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 tablespoon margarine
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 200g of sultanas (optional)
- 2 teaspoons of cornflour
Method
- In a pot, melt the margarine. Add the salt and wait until the margarine turns a golden brown colour.
- Add the apples and the sugar as well as the sultanas if you are using them
- Cook the apples until they are soft.
- Mix the cornflour with a little of water and add it to the apple mixture on the stove.
- When the filling has thickened, take it off the stove and let it cool.
- Prepare your pastry
The Dough
Ingredients
- 3 cups of FMF Babakau Mix
- 250g of margarine
- 3/4 cold water
- 1 cup of flour for dusting
Method
- In a large basin combine the Babakau mix and the margarine.
- Once mixed in thoroughly, add the water one tablespoon at a time.
- Form the dough, cover it and put it in the fridge for 45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven at 180 degrees Celsius.
- Dust the surface lightly with flour and roll out the dough.
- Using a large round mug cut out circles
- Add the filling on top of one circle and then lightly rub some water to seal the edges.
- Press lightly around the mini pie with a fork to seal the edges properly.
- Brush the tops with melted margarine and bake for 35 minis or until golden brown
- Serve hot with vanilla ice cream or plain.
